Sexual difficulties can affect confidence, self-esteem, relationships and emotional wellbeing. Yet talking about sex can feel difficult, embarrassing or even impossible.
You may have been living with a sexual difficulty for some time, wondering whether it will improve on its own, or feeling unsure about where to seek help.
Psychosexual therapy provides a confidential and non-judgemental space to talk openly about sexual concerns and explore the physical, emotional, psychological and relationship factors that may be contributing.
I can support individuals and couples experiencing difficulties including:
Sexual difficulties are not always simply physical. Stress, anxiety, self-esteem, relationship difficulties, life changes, previous experiences and the way we think and feel about sex can all influence our sexual experiences.
For couples, a sexual difficulty can also affect the wider relationship. One partner may feel rejected, while the other may feel pressure, frustration, shame or a sense that they are letting their partner down.
Therapy provides an opportunity to slow things down and explore these experiences without blame or judgement.
We can work together to understand what may be happening, reduce pressure and develop ways of communicating about sex and intimacy that feel safer and more comfortable.
My approach is sensitive, collaborative and respectful of individual differences, relationships, identities, values and beliefs.
You don't have to feel embarrassed about asking for help. Sexual difficulties are more common than you might think, and support is available.
